CIVIL WAR -

This run was HUGE and extremely anticipated. Heroes who were always paired together split, the whole Marvel Universe gets dragged into it, and yep, Spider-Man unmasks on live TV, which I absolutely loved.

Steve McNiven’s art does an incredible job of captivating the reader. Large detailed spreads, emotional moments, and that panel of heroes falling from the sky? An absolute masterpiece and an all-time favorite of mine. But rereading it the past few times, the writing feels a bit inconsistent to me. Iron Man’s manipulative, Cap pulls a few shady moves, and the emotional weight just doesn’t hit like it should for something as massive as this. Honestly, the movie might have done the whole conflict way better.

Still, it’s worth the read for the sheer scale of the story alone. I mean, the X-Men and Fantastic Four, there are so many characters that appear. It’s not perfect, but it’s iconic for a reason.
