THE DARK KNIGHT -
Frank Miller makes his return back into his iconic Dark Knight universe with “The Master Race,” and you can feel the weight of everything that came before it. Bruce Wayne is older, Gotham and the world are colder, and the idea of what’s “right” is blurrier than ever. The concept is wild. A breakaway group of Kryptonians shows up ready to reshape Earth, and Batman, bruised and more stubborn than ever, steps up. What makes this book interesting is that it doesn’t care if you like it. It’s messy, aggressive, and political. It’s not here to please anyone. Sometimes that hits like a punch to the gut. Other times, it feels like it’s being edgy just to be edgy. But when it works, like Carrie rising into her own, Bruce questioning his place in the world, or humans pushing back against literal gods, it really works.
